Where Does True Success Come From?

Ok. Now that we have an overview of our vision statement to Go NOW And . . . together with the idea of the stages of change that a person will naturally go through when considering Christ, now what do we do? For the next several sermons we will be looking at the stages of change and the stimuli of the statement from Ellen While about where true success comes from.

Doing so, my hope and prayer is that you will be able to see yourself living the very actions that will make a transformation change in the people you come in contact with. A great impact on lives is the goal. Remember, the first stage of change is pre-contemplation. Connected with this reality is the stimulus of mingling with people. How, what, and why should we mingle are the questions we will discuss in our time together.

C. S. Lewis once state this profound thought, “Don’t shine so that others can see you. Shine so that, through you, others can see Him.” We will learn principles that will help your mingling with people shine so that people can see Him! Remember that principles will inform your practice. Therefore having a clear understanding of the principles of mingling will help you practice things that will be redemptive and not destructive.

Mel Lawrenz, a Christian thought contributor, once stated, “The only enduring influence we have to offer others is the influence God has in our own lives.” Thinking deeply on this thought, one is led to understand that your person relationship with Jesus will make a significant difference in the lives of all those you come in contact with. I desire to make an impact for good, I hope you do as well.

So, as you listen to the sermon thought today, (Milton church), take notes, think things through, and most importantly . . . apply that which is necessary for you to apply. It’s time to put our vision for our church to work. It’s time to Go NOW And . . . MINGLE!

So, until the next time, this is Pastor Tello reminding you that thought do change lives!

Pastor Howard Tello

  • Learning to Die Before You Die

A captivating title indeed, Learning to Die, Before You Die. Now, on top of the list of the biggest fears for people is the fear of death. The only thing that tops that is the fear of public speaking! Death is one of those things that when one ponders it, one is left with a…

  • November Marks Change

It’s so incredible to me that it’s November. For me, November marks that change in our time and impact on our day. Tomorrow, November 2, 2025, our time will fall backwards. The saying is, “Spring forward, fall back . . .” There is something melancholic about this time of year. Perhaps it has to do…

  • Irresistible Identity

This is the last weekend for our Irresistible Identity meetings! It has been a tremendous blessing for all those involved. We were so blessed to have new concepts to apply to our own personal journeys with Jesus as well as those in whom we come in contact. There is always the question that drives when…

  • Milton’s Vision

Ok. Now that we (at the Milton church) have an overview of our vision statement to “Go NOW And . . .” together with the idea of the stages of change that a person will naturally go through when considering Christ, now what do we do? For the next several sermons, we will be looking…

  • A Spiritual & Educational Journey

We did it! It took me almost 2 years t do it, but we did it! What did we do? We covered the 28 Fundamental Beliefs of our church . . . in a different and reflective manner. I challenged a lot of what we believe. I challenged a whole lot of the way we…

  • What Is Good News?

What’s good news? Well, if you’ve kept up with the national news lately, any news that does not border on chaos and disaster is good news. If you are a reader of the local news, perhaps a new birth or the capture of a local miscreant is good news. But what if there is such…

  • Share Your Passion

Is there something that keeps you up at night? No, I’m not talking about indigestion. I’m talking about a passion that you feel deep in the inner recesses of your bones! Something that fills you with joy, anticipation, hope? It could be something that you sense the need to share with everyone you come in…

  • What Makes a Great Story?

What makes a great story? Perhaps it’s the beginning of the story. Like, “Once upon a time . . . ” Or perhaps it’s the body of the story that makes it great. Like all of the details leading up to the climax of the story. I would argue that what makes a story great…

  • Spent Week With Parents

From July 8-15, I was privileged to visit the state of Florida and spend a week with my parents. Seeing them again after so long made me realize that I need to re-prioritize my schedule to make sure that I’m able to see my parents more often. Here’s what I learned from visiting them: Lesson #1:…

  • It is Better to Have Loved and Lost than Never to Have Loved

Unfortunately, I am not able to be with you this Sabbath. I am worshipping our Master with my mother at the Cape Coral Seventh-day Adventist Church in Cape Coral, FL. While I would have loved to be with you, I am more than glad Pastor Ole is with you. Here’s a thought for your Sabbath…

  • I Stand on What the Bible Teaches

I’ve noticed a common societal reality displayed for many years now. I remember speaking to someone about this reality many years ago when they asked me if it was okay for them to be living with someone to whom they are not married. As a pastor, you must understand that I stand on what the Bible…

  • Adventism Provides a Unique Flavor to Christendom

This past week I had a lunch date with a friend in our precious valley. As we talked, it didn’t take long for us to broach the subject of the Bible. Being a pastor and my friend having many question s about the bible we began talking. I love talking about the Bible, especially with…

  • Have a Service That Attracts God

If you were here last Sabbath, you heard Pastor Kruger’s challenge. What was that challenge? “Instead of designing a church service to attract people, have a service that attracts God. He will draw the people.” With that in mind, we have an opportunity today to participate in a church service that attracts God . . .…

  • Father’s Day Again?

WOW! I know! Is it just me or are you reading another Father’s Day Telegram this Sabbath? It seems like last week that you were reading last year’s message! Time is flying by. As a father of three kids (well, now 2 young adults and one teenager), I am reminded very day how fast time flies…

  • The Impact of the Holy Spirit

It’s that time of the year! From the time of the resurrection of Jesus until the day of Pentecost is 50 days. According to the book of Acts it tells us, “When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came…

  • How To Be . . .

It has always impressed me . . . that phrase . . . that thought . . . that idea. What Idea? This phrase, “How to be . . .” For me, how to be a better pastor intrigues me. Or how to be a more loving father and husband, inspires me. In fast, I…

  • Never Lose Infinite Hope

This last Sabbath, May 17, 2025, our members met before services to pray. As we did so, we all heard about all the pain our church family is facing at this point in our lives. They say that when it rains, it pours. Our church family is going through a lot. The human tendency is…

  • Where Words Fail, Music Speaks

It’s that time of the year again . . . Spring Concert Time! We, here at the Milton Adventist Church, are so privileged to have the WWU Singers here with us. There truly is something special about the power of music. We first noticed that power with Isaiah when he was younger. Whenever he would…

  • Honor Your Mother

How do you honor your mother? I know, it’s a loaded question. For some, their mothers have been and continue to be an ongoing inspiration. For still others, well, the question raises the levels of anxiety and the memories of pain and trauma. I have realized through the years that all mothers, whether good or…

  • The Power Team

Have you ever heard this statement, “God didn’t call me to be important, He called me to be faithful.” Or how about this one, “None of us is as smart as all of us.” No. Perhaps if I mention this name . . . The Power Team. Nothing Yet? What about the name of John…
