What does it mean to desire God? In order to answer this question, one must ask a previous question of clarification . . . namely, what creates desire in someone? The definition of desire is a strong feeling of wanting to have something or wishing for something to happen. So, what creates desire in a person?
You're right! The lack of something or wishing or something to happen in one's life. Take for example, you have gone more than 24 hours without any food in your stomach. As your stomach growls to be filled, you are experiencing the creation of a desire to find food and fill your stomach. Desire is absent or at the very least, not important, until a need is present.
It has been stated that, "The starting point of all achievement is desire." - Napoleon Hill. If true, then the greatest achievement a Christian can have in life is to desire God with all their heart, mind and soul! Awakening that desire is using the current knowledge you have of God and allowing that knowledge to be more than an intellectual reality and make it an experimental truism.
This Sabbath, may you and your families find that the greatest achievement today is to desire the God that first desires you! May you find the answers that you are looking for. May you understand that the current knowledge you have of God is useless unless used! They say knowledge is power . . . I disagree. . . rightly used knowledge is power!
May God richly bless your minds as you hear the Word of God preached by Pastor George Smith. And may you take that deep dive to desire God more!
So, until the next time, this is Pastor Tello reminding you that thoughts do change lives!
