"Great is the Lord, He is holy and just, by His power we trust in His love. Great is the Lord, He is faithful and true, by His mercy He proves He is love. - Lyrics by Michael W. Smith. What a powerful and thoughtful song. Great is the Lord! Have you experienced that reality this week? Have you sensed the greatness of God in your life, with your family, in your work? I hope so.
Most of the time, in the busyness of our lives, we missed that realization of how great the Lord is to us. However, taking any amount of time to meditate and contemplate on that truism helps you in ways that you might not realize. Did you know that last year, 23.1% of U.S. adults (59.2 million) experienced a mental illness. Did you also know that young adults have a prevalence of 49.5% higher than an adult.
With these shocking statistics, I wonder if remembering, contemplating, meditating on the greatness of God would have any lasting positive impact? I don't have to wonder . . . I know that it does! The positive impact of the greatness of God is seen all around us, in us, and through us. But, here again, we don't take time to realize that reality in our lives.
Why? Why do we not contemplate, meditate, and remember the greatness of God? In the Bible, there is a thought . . . "Remember the Lord your God. . .", Deuteronomy 8:18. On This Sabbath morning, you are privileged to be able to remember the Lord. God has created a space in time where you can come to remember Him and His greatness in your life.
Ellen G. White shares this perspicacious thought, "It would be well for us to spend a thoughtful hour each day in contemplation of the life of Christ." Desire of Ages 83.3. Why? Because by doing so, you will see for yourselves the greatness of God manifested in the life of the Master Jesus. That being said, you will have an example of greatness to emulate. And by emulating that greatness, you will help others realize God's greatness by what they see in you!
Therefore, this Sabbath day, contemplate, meditate, and remember the greatness of God!
So, until the next time this is Pastor Tello reminding you that thoughts do change lives!
