What does it mean to "give it your all?" A person shares this thought. "In life, you have 3 choices: give up, give in, or give it your all." Kahlil Gibran shares the following thought, "You give but little when you give of your possessions. It is when you die of yourself that you truly give." So, perhaps. . . giving it your all means to give of yourself fully to a cause.
John Templeton adds, "The commitment of giving your best at all times, in all circumstances and under all conditions can enable you to find value in, and lend value to, every experience." John's thought adds the idea that giving of your all will enable you to find value in, lend value to every experience you have. Perhaps, that's what it means to give it your all.
The greatest demonstration of giving of your all was made by Jesus Christ. In 1 John 3:16, John shares this thought, "This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down His life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters." In this though, giving of your all means to give as Jesus gave. To sacrifice as Jesus sacrificed.
In a letter written in 1887, Ellen White shares this thought, "The one great sacrifice has been made in the life, the mission, the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Oh, that minds would only contemplate the greatness of the sacrifice, then they might be better able to comprehend the greatness of the salvation." 5LtMs, Lt22, 1887, par. 9
Giving your all for a cause, giving your all to enable you to find value in your experience, giving your all for your brothers and sisters, and giving your all as Jesus did will lead you to better comprehend the greatness of salvation.
