Fynn, our adorable little service dog, has a habit that makes the entire family laugh out loud. Every Friday, before the Sabbath, I have a custom of giving him his weekly bath. Fynn follows me everywhere. Being that I am his chose human, Fynn will go wherever I go. But on Fridays, somehow he knows when it's his bath time.
While he follows me upstairs, he doesn't go all the way upstairs...He plops down near the top of the stairs and will no longer proceed to the top of the stairs. It's almost as if his legs don't work anymore. I reach down to pick him up only to feel a limp dog...that's his way of telling me that he doesn't want a bath.
As we start the bath, Fynn is visibly hating the experience and is wanting to jump out of the bathtub and run away. But, he musters through the experience and that's when everything for him changes! Now that he's clean...he goes crazy. We call it his "zoomies." As soon as I let him out of the bathroom, he runs at full speed all through the house.
While I don't understand dog language, it makes me think of the spiritual application of such an event. Sometimes in our spiritual lives, we don't realize how dirty sin has made our lives. When God offers to make us whole, to clean us from our sin, we don't want it, we don't like it...but then something happens!
When we realize we are clean...everything changes! God says, "Come now, and let us reason together," said the Lord, "Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be read like crimson, they shall be as wool." Isa. 1:18. Today, go to God for the cleansing you are needing. He's offering it to you, right now!
So, until the next time, this is Pastor Tello reminding you that thoughts do change lives!
